Kids with Autism Can (interview and book)

April is National Autism Awareness Month. Below, you can get to know the folks at Kids with Autism Can!

Kids-with-AutismTell us about Nicholas

Nicholas is 15 years old and is currently diagnosed with high functioning autism. When he was younger his diagnosis was moderate/severe autism. He has grown by leaps and bounds and he inspires others and charms them with his honesty and kind heart.

What prompted you to write your book?

Everyone said “You should write a book, Nicholas is amazing.” I said that wasn’t something I could do. One day I was going through pictures and I realized they told the very best story. We had so many challenges when Nicholas was small. He had such severe sensory issues almost everything was painful to him. As he grew, we worked through some of the things that bothered him and we could see the changes and feel the hope. We realized we needed to share that!

How can your book/story help others?

By sharing the book and website, we hope that families will feel inspired instead of being overwhelmed by the diagnosis. We aren’t saying it is an easy path, but it can be filled with some amazing experiences and we can all support each other as we find our way down the very winding road. We are working hard to create a community of positive supportive families.

Would Nicholas like to share anything with us, also?

Nicholas enjoys autographing the book, and hopes it will help other feel good about themselves, too!

Where can folks buy the book or contact you for more information?

You can purchase the book on our website: Kids with Autism Can. The site is filled with lots of inspiring information! We can be reached through the Contact Us section of the site or at info @ kidswithautismcan.org. We would love to hear from your readers and we hope people will share their positive stories with us!
