Oh........we need some dirt in schools!
This morning I was browsing around on Deborah's site: Brain Insights. I saw a link to an archived post titled Research indicates that playing in the dirt may stimulate further learning and less stress for the brain.
The post reminded me of something I wrote in May of 2010: The phases and stages of a love of dirt

Not all children are created equal just as not all parents are created equal. We all have both good and bad moments. We have photos of the cute things our kids do and we often share those images on social media, don't we? "We had so much fun today doing ______!" I enjoy seeing those photos and I like seeing children playing and having fun.

Eggcelent Project

Last week I taught a brief art lesson to our Special Education class (K-5th). Today I decided to plan ahead for next weeks lesson, following Spring Break. I cut egg shapes from pink paper and decorated each one with Wikki Stix. This will be great for the kids in regard to hand-eye coordination, creativity, fine motor skill development, etc.
