"Do you love me in a box?"

By Shara Lawrence-Weiss, Mommy Perks

My daughter is now 3.5 years old. When she was 2.5 I created a book for her titled, "We love you...Just the way you are!" You can watch her reading that book on YouTube, if you wish.

She has the book memorized now and at night, before sleeping, she will run through the pages with me: "I love you when you're happy!" I will reply, "I love you when you're sad!" Lately, she has been making up her own lines. For instance, "I love you in a car! I love you on a bike!"

Yesterday, she pushed a box up next to my computer. She sat inside the box and began to laugh hysterically. She said, "Hey mom! Do you love me in a box?!" LOL. Awesome moment! There's that social-emotional connection to her book and to the love I have for her *no matter what*...not to mention humor. We love to laugh in our home. It's good for the soul.

A Google Alert brought me your post, much to my delight. It's a wonderful story and testament to the power of reading to kids and encouraging word play!

...and in your socks...and skipping rocks...on the phone...and in the "zone"...in the car...near or far...

Of course, you knew I would LOVE this!
