It's been a while since I've posted about a holiday tree. Bringing a new baby into the world is a rather time consuming process and leaves one feeling a little behind {smile}.
Today... we're back! Catch up here:
How the trees began...{Valentine's Day Tree}
For Father's Day we decided to attach items that "daddy loves." My son said, "Daddy likes apples!" So we added some fabric apples from their storefront toy collection. My daughter said, "Daddy loves chocolate and coffee!" We tied some mini candy bars to the tree and attached some coffee.

My son wanted to use the tools from his toy set. We attached hammers, saws, screwdrivers and more. My husband is more 'professorial' than he is 'handyman' but I wanted my kids to feel as though they were a big part of this tree. Therefore, I allowed my son to use the tools because it made him so happy!
We also made a few coffee mug cutouts. I printed the mugs and we glued some coffee grinds and beans onto the mugs. I reminded the kids that Daddy loves to read so we cut a few newspaper shapes from an old newspaper and placed those around the tree.The kids also decorated paper chains and used two of Daddy's favorite colors when they painted (blue and green).

As the topper I used three small packs of coffee along with gift cards.

All done!

The most challenging thing about this tree is keeping the kids away from the chocolate!
Costs: I spent a few dollars on the mini chocolate bars ($6) and a few cents on the printing (coffee mug cutouts). I bought the coffee from a local Safeway ($1.25 each). The other decorations were already in our possession. If you attach gift cards you'll need to purchase those, of course. Otherwise, this tree is a very cost effective way to celebrate and my kids had a blast.
Next up: We'll create a tree for Independence Day (coming soon)
